Internet ahead of the rest of the media

To date, approximately 84% of Americans have Internet access. It is the most popular source of information. The reason for this phenomenon of electronic media has become the most rapid supply of information, compared with newspapers, radio and television.

According to the poll of Zogby International, 82% of respondents believe that within the next five years the Internet will remain the main source of information. 13% of respondents believe the leader of television news. Preference newspapers lost 0,5%.

Despite the steady increase in audience of social networks in the United States only a small proportion of adult Americans spend their time on sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Only 4% of the respondents use the information on these resources. The main source of information for most of a news site.

More than half of those surveyed said that they prefer an Internet if they have to choose only one source of news. 21% would choose television. The share of lovers of newspapers and radio accounts for 10% of respondents.

The Internet is also referred to as the most reliable source of news. This was stated 40% of the adult population. For comparison – 17% cited TV, 16% – 13%, and newspapers – radio. “The study confirms the basic idea, the essence of which is that the information posted on websites that appear and reach readers faster than the publication in newspapers or messages on radio and television”, – quotes Reuters the findings of sociologists.

As for the blogs, they use less popular than the usual news sites. Only 28% of respondents claimed that blogs share their political affiliation. “Web sites of traditional media more demand than the blogs, most of which is merely a reflection of the views of a small portion of the audience,” – noted by sociologists.
