Georgia once again threatening its neighbors

Georgia does not exclude the possibility to resolve the territorial issues by force. This is confirmed by the build-up of armed forces along the borders with Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The statement was made on Wednesday at Le Bourget Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Russia Army General Nikolai Makarov.

He stressed that “Georgia rattle of arms and military equipment, leaving no attempts to resolve territorial issue by any means.” Recall that after the attack, the Georgian army in South Ossetia in August 2008 Russia recognized the independence of this country and other former Georgian autonomy – Abkhazia. Tbilisi, in turn, declared Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories. Also, Georgia has repeatedly stated that they never accept the loss of these regions.

According to Makarov, Chief of General Staff of the armed forces of Russia, there are a number of issues to the activities of international observers to monitor and control a security zone in the vicinity of the Georgian -yugoosetinskoy border. “We have them a lot of questions about their activities, as Georgian army continues to arm itself, quite a number of positions in force at the border with South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which are far from being a stabilizing factor,” – said Makarov. He added that evidence of this are the recent teachings of the Georgian Army in conjunction with some North Atlantic Alliance. “These exercises Georgians see as a demonstration of force and unity of NATO”.

The General also talked about how the tasks assigned to the Armed Forces of Russia in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. He said that they are already located there by the troops, together with the power structures of these republics. “You know that, in addition, our border guards are now develop sites along the border with Georgia, – quotes RIA Novosti words Makarova.

But he said that the General Staff is planning to reduce the size of the troops at the Russian military bases in the two republics. “The number of Russian troops on these bases will be slightly reduced as the number, which was originally announced, probably too much … There are the armed forces of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which should solve their problems. Our troops are there to stabilize the situation in these areas and protect the territorial integrity of the newly independent states – South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Therefore, a contingent of troops there would not be very big, “- said Makarov.
