Swiss parachutist made a successful jump using a parachute, that design was invented by Leonardo da Vinci more than 500 years ago, reports Telegraph.

Model parachute was made of four triangular parts that form together a pyramid. Its design was described in one of the texts, dating from the year 1485.

Oliver Vetti-Teppo became the first person who was able to land safely with the help of such a parachute. In 2000, another devotee from Britain Adrian Nicholas also decided to try to do something similar, but then he was forced to take the usual parachute for landing.

Helvetian jumped from a height of 650 meters. As planned, the Leonardo parachute opened at an altitude of 600 meters.
